A man was frantically tearing through his Bible in a desperate search when a friend came up and asked, “Is something wrong?” “Yes,” he said, “I can’t remember if the Thanksgiving story is in the Old Testament or New Testament!” Both the Old Testament and New Testament have much to say about thanksgiving, but “the Thanksgiving story” would be found in American history. Scripture no doubt influenced the pilgrims to be thankful to God for blessings he had given to them. Let us be thankful to God every day for all he has given us.
Are You Thankful?
Someone observed, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” It’s important to have an “attitude of gratitude.” But thankful thoughts should be demonstrated in words and actions. We need to feel and express gratitude to the many people who have given to us and done so much for us. We should especially feel and express our gratitude to God for his many blessings to us. Are you thankful? Don’t just wrap the present, give it.
