This nation has been built on the shoulders of strong men. They were great leaders, courageous pioneers, and hardworking farmers. The Lord’s church has a similar history of great preachers, courageous missionaries, and faithful elders. Unfortunately, in recent generations we have seen the demise of strong male leadership in our society and churches.
Strong leadership begins with good fathers in the home. Fatherhood is the testing and training ground of church leaders. A good leader in the Lord’s church must be “one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity” (1 Tim. 3:4,12). The lack of good leadership in society and in our churches can be directly attributed to the lack of good fathers in the home.
Paul said to the men of Corinth; “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (1 Co. 16:13). The Lord’s church continues to need men who act like men. We need wise leaders, powerful preachers, and strong families in our churches. To fill these positions, we must have good fathers in our homes. Let us never underestimate the importance and influence of good fathers!
Happy Father’s Day!
