“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease, Gen. 8:22. Thank God for Harvest time!
Thank God for the blessings of America! America the beautiful! “O beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain…” Thank God and praise God for His goodness! Our country offers us unlimited opportunities and benefits of blessings from the Lord. Everyone should be blessed as we eat well, live well and feed others—thanks to God’s bountiful blessings of land, soil, seed and moisture!
The Jews enjoyed special times of worship and festival at harvest time: times of food, fellowship and faith—faith in God who is the Lord of the Harvest. “You have enlarged the nation, and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest…” Isaiah 9:3 (NIV).
“What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?” Ps. 116:12. Probably we don’t thank God enough for His greatness and goodness! Thank you Lord! Thanks be to God, Eph. 5:20.
Jeremiah’s haunting comment echoes in our mind: “The harvest is past, the summer is ended…and we are not saved!” Jeremiah 8:20. How sad! Above all things make certain your salvation is sure: “Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith,” II Cor. 13:5. Let us be grateful for the Harvest and especially grateful for salvation!
Enjoy Thanksgiving every day, “Give us this day (today, every-day) our daily bread,” Matt. 6:11. Enjoy food, family, and faith, every day! “The Lord’s mercies…are new every morning…” Lamentations 3:22-23.
