One of the keys to understanding the Bible is found in the word “covenant” or “testament.” The Bible is basically divided into two “testaments” or two “covenants.”
The first part of the Bible consists of thirty-nine books (Genesis-Malachi) and this section of God’s word is known as the “Old Testament” or the “Old Covenant.” The next twenty-seven books of the Bible (Matthew-Revelation) consist of the “New Covenant” or the “New Testament.”
