We enjoy watching “America’s Got Talent.” In a recent review of those exceptional acts which received the “Golden Buzzer,” that guaranteed a spot in the final competition, a girl named Jane received the top vote. She was fighting cancer and sang a song she had written about her situation called, “It’s OK.”
When asked how she had such a positive attitude about her dire situation, she replied, “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore, before you decide to be happy.” Sadly, she died before the final competition. Her attitude echoes the words of the Apostle Paul as he wrote from a prison cell, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!” He went on to say, “I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.” (Ph. 4:4,11).
There is not much in life more important than attitude. Truly no one has a better “glass half full” attitude than Christians. No matter if it is poverty, hunger, or sickness, no matter if it is trials, tribulations, or grief, we turn it all over to God and by faith accept whatever comes. By prayer we seek to affect the outcome, and through Christ we gain the strength to accept that outcome. When faced with dire situations of our own, we can “rejoice,” knowing that God is in control. Or, in Jane’s words, know that “It’s OK.”
