Your love life determines your happiness for living and
maybe visa-versa. To have a true abundant life, you must have
love for Jesus at the center, John 10:10; 14:6, 15. The Bible tells
us three things we need in our life—faith, hope, and love, but
the greatest is LOVE, I Cor. 13:13.
Why is love the most important? (1) A person’s faith
without love is nothing, I Cor. 13:2. (2) Knowledge puffs up, but
love builds up, I Cor. 8:1. (3) God loves us, Romans 5:6-11.
(4) Love covers sin, I Peter 4:8.
What does love do? (1) Love serves, Matt. 20:28. Jesus
trained Peter to serve by washing his feet, John 13:1-17. (2) Love
obeys—if you love me [God] you will keep my commandments,
John 14:15. (3) Learning to love helps us to have joy, I John 1:1-
4; 3:14-24. By all means a Christian should love, II Peter 1: 4-9.
How can we learn to love more? (1) Study your Bible,
Rom. 10:17. (2) Make Jesus #1 in your life. Use Him as an
example. Jesus has shown us what true love is like. He loved us
so much he died for us. He has shown us His Father, and has
made us His friend. He wants us to show that same love,
John 15:12-15. (3) Be around those who would encourage you to
love and do good, Heb. 10:24.
Check your love life! We must learn to love and take
action. I Corinthians 13 is a guide to what we need to do to truly
love. Love is patient and kind, love bears all things, believes all
things, hopes all things and endures all things…love never fails!
When we love ourselves, and one another, with Jesus at the
center, we will have a joy-filled abundant life, Matt. 22:37-39.
