I’d like to share 3 reasons why you will benefit from attending a Bible class in the new quarter.
- Spending time in God’s Word is always beneficial. As we have highlighted in our study of John this quarter, one of the primary purposes of Scripture is to help us believe (e.g. John 20:31). Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). The best way to grow your faith is to spend time with the Word of God.
Of course, time spent in Bible study benefits in more ways than one. Since the Bible is God’s revelation to mankind, in it we find the wisdom of God – wisdom that He imparts so that we might live the best possible life here on earth. Time spent in Bible study challenges us to leave behind sinful, destructive behaviors and develop healthy, life-giving ones.
- Bible class provides a unique opportunity for building the habit of Bible study. Most of us don’t need to be convinced about the need for Bible study or its benefits. We struggle with finding a consistent time and place to study and make it a part of our routine. Many of us experience this every year when we fail at our New Year’s resolutions.
Participating in Bible class offers us the opportunity to build a new habit. The time and place have already been set aside. No need to try to figure out how to fit the habit into your schedule! Further, our fellow Christians in the Bible class form a system for support and accountability as we build the habit.
- Bible class is an expression of Christian community. As members of the body of Christ, we all possess different gifts and talents. When we come together for Bible study, we bring our unique experiences to the discussion. Like the first Christians, we share in each other’s lives as we commit ourselves to the apostles’ doctrine (cf. Acts 2:42).
These are but a few reasons you will benefit from attending a Bible class in the new quarter. Don’t just take my word for it. Come and see for yourself!
